Doggy Doo Duty – Terms of Service
Welcome to Doggy Doo Duty! We offer professional residential and commercial pet waste removal services, including one-time cleans, spring cleanings, weekly or bi-weekly service. By using our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Dog Bites & Unsafe Dogs
Doggy Doo Duty prioritizes the safety of our team members. If a dog is aggressive, territorial, or poses a safety risk, we reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service. It is the client’s responsibility to secure pets during scheduled visits.
We will service a yard with an aggressive dog, but only if the dog is securely inside the house while we scoop. If the dog is loose in the yard at the time of service and our team feels unsafe, we will skip service for that visit. No refunds or credits will be issued for missed visits due to an unsecured or aggressive dog.
Clients must provide proof of up-to-date rabies and other required vaccinations upon request. If a dog is not up to date on vaccinations and bites or attacks a team member, the client will be fully responsible for any medical expenses incurred, including hospital bills. Additionally, a $500 fine will be charged to the client.
The client must disclose any known history of aggression or behavioral issues before service begins. Failure to do so may result in immediate service termination without refund.
1. Payment and Invoicing
Monthly Payment: Payment is due on the 1st of each month. If not received by the 3rd, it will be considered late, and services will be paused until payment is made. A credit card on file is required to enroll. We do not accept cash or checks.
Late Payments: A $20 late fee will be added to unpaid bills after the 3rd of the month. Accounts 30+ days overdue will be sent to collections.
One-Time & Initial Cleanings: Billed and charged after completion, with payment due within 24 hours. A $40 non-refundable deposit is required (One Time Cleans) to ensure a spot on our schedule, with the remaining balance due within 24 hours of completion. Price is based on the number of dogs, areas needing scooped, and number of buckets.
Pro-rated Charge: If signing up in the middle of the month, your card will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the month between your initial scoop and your next scheduled visit.
Missed Scoops Due to Non-Payment or Customer Choice: We do not reimburse for rescheduled scoops due to non-payment or customer-related issues (locked gate, dog in yard, etc.). If scoops are missed for two or more weeks due to non-payment or customer choice, the account will be paused, and the customer must pay an initial clean-up price to be reinstated.
2. Service Scope and Pricing
Yard Size: Pricing is based on a standard 1/8th-acre lot. Larger areas will incur additional charges.
Yard Access: If we cannot access your yard (locked, frozen, or blocked gates, or dogs present, etc.), service will be skipped, but the regular charge will still apply. A $5 driving fee will be added for a return visit.
Excessive Waste: If collected waste exceeds five buckets, there will be an additional charge per bucket. Please note if your regular scoop days consistently include more than five buckets and you have the appropriate number of dogs for that waste, you will not be charged. However, if you state you do not have the appropriate number of dogs to produce that amount of waste, charges will apply.
3. Honesty in Service Agreement – Number of Dogs
Accurate Reporting: Customers must disclose the correct number of dogs on their property when signing up for service. If the number of dogs changes, including temporary increases (e.g., pet-sitting), you must notify us immediately so we can adjust your service plan accordingly.
Verification: Our team reserves the right to assess the property during service visits. If we discover more dogs than originally stated or a significant increase in waste without prior notice, your pricing will be adjusted accordingly, and additional fees may apply.
Dishonesty & Non-Disclosure Policy:
Apply retroactive charges for the additional waste removal.
Assume the undisclosed increase in waste is due to misrepresentation and adjust pricing accordingly.
Require immediate adjustment of the service rate to reflect the current starting rate at the time of discovery.
Suspend or terminate service for repeated dishonesty or non-communication.
4. Weather and Environmental Conditions
Winter Service:
Road and Weather Conditions: If roads are unsafe (e.g., icy, low visibility), we will prioritize safety and skip the scheduled visit. Double-duty service will be provided the following week.
Gate and Path Access: Please ensure gates are clear and functional. If blocked by snow, ice, or a frozen lock, service will be skipped, and double duty will be performed the next visit.
Extreme Cold: If the real feel, actual temperature, or wind chill is 15°F or below, scoopers will not go out. Double-duty service will occur the following week.
Yard Conditions:
If the yard has excessive leaves or tall grass, piles may be missed, and Doggy Doo Duty will not be responsible.
We do not dig through leaves, tall grass, or snow and under trampolines, some play structures and decks to retrieve waste.
If yard conditions (excessive waste, tall grass, debris, etc.) cause significantly longer service times, additional charges may apply.
Mowed Over Waste: If waste has been run over with a mower and is embedded in the grass, making it difficult to remove, the technician may skip that pile to avoid damaging tools. If a technician breaks their tools while attempting to remove such waste, a $5 damage fee will be added to the customer’s next invoice.
Heat Advisory Policy:
If a heat advisory is issued, scoopers may skip service for safety.
If service is missed due to heat, double duty will be provided the following week if rescheduling isn’t possible.
Rain and Storms:
Services may be rescheduled for high winds, thunderstorms, or heavy rain.
No refunds for missed weeks due to weather; double duty will be provided the following visit.
If yard is too muddy to service without causing damage, service will be skipped and resumed next visit.
5. Holiday and Scheduled Closures
Observed Holidays: No service on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. If your service falls on a holiday, we’ll resume the following week with double duty if needed.
December Holiday Closure: We are closed from December 24 through January 1 to give our team a well-deserved paid break. Customers will still be charged for this period, as double duty will be performed upon return.
6. Service Conditions and Customer Responsibilities
Dog Presence:
If dogs are outside during a scheduled visit, we will ask that they be secured.
If dogs are let out during our visit, we will leave and resume at the next scheduled visit.
Continued presence of dogs during visits may result in service termination. No refunds will be issued for skipped visits due to this.
Waste Disposal: Waste will be double-bagged and placed in the customer’s trash can. If inaccessible, bags will be left near the fence.
Damages: Doggy Doo Duty is not responsible for any damages that may occur during service.
Missed Waste: If a customer notices missed waste within 5 minutes of our technician leaving—before letting their dog out—we will return to address it. If reported later, it will be handled at the next scheduled visit.
7. Dog Safety and Owner Responsibility
Doggy Doo Duty is not responsible if a dog escapes or is injured while we are on-site. Dogs must be secured indoors or in a separate area during service.
If a dog is outside or let out while we are working, we are not liable for injury, escape, or incident.
For aggressive dogs, our team may leave gates open temporarily for emergency exits. We are not liable if the dog exits the yard.
We are not responsible if a dog escapes due to a faulty or improperly latched gate after our visit.
8. Route Hold Policy (Vacations & Temporary Absences)
Advance Notice Required: Notify us before the 1st of the month to pause service. No credits will be given if not notified in advance.
Two-Week Grace Period: Clients may pause service up to 2 consecutive weeks at no charge.
Holding Fee: If paused beyond 2 weeks, a $10/week holding fee applies (starting week 3) to retain your route spot.
Service Resumption: Clients must give at least 48 hours' notice to resume. Holds over 4 weeks with no holding fee may lose their spot and be subject to availability.
9. Referral Program
Referral Discount:
10. Privacy and Data Collection
Information Collection: We collect basic personal information (name, email, phone, address) for service purposes only.
Data Sharing: We do not sell or share personal data except for payment, communication, or legal compliance.
11. Service Amendments
Doggy Doo Duty may update these terms at any time. Continued use of our service confirms agreement with all updates.
12. Cancellation Policy
Mid-Month Cancellations: No refunds for service canceled mid-month.
Cancellation Before Month Starts: Cancel before the 1st to avoid charges.
13. Service Delays Due to Emergencies or Family Matters
In the event of emergencies (e.g., family death, illness), services may be delayed or rescheduled. These delays do not qualify for refunds, but we will fulfill service within the week when possible.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Michigan law. All disputes shall be resolved in Lenawee County, Michigan. By agreeing, you waive objections to jurisdiction or venue.
